WHAT IS CFK ABOUT's?
Cans For Kids is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by Ginny McKinney to recycle aluminum cans. The net proceeds are used to help finance children's programmes in the Bahamas. CFK is linked to Wastenot Limited, which provides the transportation, labour and premises for CFK. Wastenot is the first environmentally conscious waste disposal company in Nassau.

Over 50 % of the aluminum cans produced in the world are recycled but the statistics are much lower in The Bahamas. We have come to a point where we have to address our garbage problem. Lack of landfill space and a growing awareness that we need to move away from that model make recycling paramount. It's more and more necessary for Bahamians to conserve raw materials and energy too!

We're becoming increasingly aware of the detrimental impact we're having on earth's fragile ecosystem. As members of our society we have the responsibility to participate in caring for each other and our environment. We hope the next generation of Bahamian children will make recycling commonplace.
